Philly Codefest 2022 - The Future of Online Learning

The Future of Online Learning

First prize $2,000, Second prize $1,000, Third prize $500

 Challenge Description

Drexel University has been a leader in online learning since for over twenty years. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the world went online, and the importance of a quality online learning experience was critical. Everything from the way in which prospects learn about universities’ online programs, to the inquiry and application experience, to the virtual classroom experience is equally important in generating a knowledgeable and satisfied student.   The “Future of Online Learning” challenges teams to create a concept for a well-designed mobile application that could provide increased personalization and ability for the user to connect with the institution in ways that matter to them without heavy manual intervention and resourcing on the institution’s end or funneling the student to a website that will be limited to that end. Currently, there are apps designed to serve core needs of current students where there are no internal apps designed for online prospective students considering pursuit of a degree.

Judging Criteria

-The app concept helps resolve a specific issue within or elevates the level of online learning -The concept can be converted into an easy-to-use mobile app -The app concept aligns with the Codefest’s focus on accessibility by making it possible for more adult learner populations to enter into post-secondary degree pathways.
